Get in touch
One person reads this mailbox, so please allow a couple of days for a reply. Telling me which phone you use and what happened gets a useful answer far faster than a bug report that says the game is broken.
Fuseday has no account system and makes no network connections, which means I cannot see your results, restore a streak, or see what went wrong on your phone unless you tell me. Everything below is something you can check or fix yourself.
- How do I play?
- What does par mean?
- What do the five links mean?
- I lost my streak
- When does the new board arrive?
- Privacy policy
How to play
Every day there is one board of coloured blocks, the same for everyone.
- Place your charges. Tap cells to place them. Each board tells you how many charges you have, between two and four. Tap a charge again to remove it. An outline shows the blocks each charge hits directly.
- Commit. When you are happy, tap COMMIT. You get one commit per day, and it cannot be undone.
- Watch the chain. The charges go off one at a time, in reading order: left to right, top row first.
What a charge does
- It destroys the block on its cell, if there is one. A charge can also go on an empty cell.
- It pushes each of its four neighbours (up, right, down, left) one cell away from it.
What happens to a pushed block
It depends on where it is pushed:
- Into an empty cell: it moves there.
- Into a block of the same colour: both blocks pop. The pop pushes their neighbours in turn, and that is how chains grow.
- Into a block of a different colour: it stays where it is.
- Off the edge of the board: it is destroyed.
Your score is the number of blocks destroyed. Every block counts one point, however it was destroyed.
The outline shows only the direct hits, never the chain. Working out the chain is the puzzle.
Scoring
What does par mean?
Par is the highest score possible on that board. You are playing against the real maximum, not a guess.
How par is found
Before a board ships, every possible placement of its charges is tried, and par is the best result. Nothing is estimated: if par says 39, there is a placement that scores 39, and none that scores more.
What do the five links mean?
Your result shows five links. The closer your score is to par, the more of them are filled:
| Links | Score |
|---|---|
| 5 | Exactly par |
| 4 | At least 90% of par |
| 3 | At least 75% of par |
| 2 | At least 55% of par |
| 1 | At least 30% of par |
| 0 | Below 30% of par |
Five links always means par exactly. The other thresholds may be adjusted during the beta.
The daily board
When does the new board arrive?
A new Fuseday starts at midnight on your phone, in your local time. Everyone gets the same numbered board, each at the start of their own day, so nobody gets their board in the middle of the afternoon because they live in a different time zone.
If you travel across time zones
The day follows your phone's date. If you travel across time zones, a new board can arrive a little earlier or later than usual.
How do streaks work?
- Your streak is the number of days in a row on which you committed the daily board.
- A day counts when you commit, not when you open the board. Opening the board and leaving is fine; it is still there when you come back that day.
- Missing a day resets your streak to zero. There are no freezes and no repairs.
- Practice boards never count towards your streak.
Practice
Practice boards are available from the menu at any time. You can replay a board or move on to the next one. Practice shows your score, but practice results are never saved or shared, and they do not affect your streak.
Everything else
I lost my streak after reinstalling
Your results are stored on your phone, and uninstalling deletes them. If Android's device backup was on, a reinstall may bring them back.
The game says “Fuseday starts on …”
The first board has not arrived yet. Practice is available in the meantime.
The game says “New boards are on their way”
The calendar has run past the last board in this version. New boards are on their way in an update. Practice is available in the meantime.
Can I turn off sound or vibration?
Yes. Open the menu and go to Settings.
Does Fuseday collect my data?
No. It has no ads, no analytics and no accounts, and it makes no network connections. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is stored on your phone and where it can go.
Which devices are supported?
Fuseday is for Android phones, and is in a closed beta on Google Play. There is no iPhone version yet.
